United Nations Millennium Development Goals Education
The eHealth Strategy Office, Faculty of Medicine of the University of British Columbia (UBC), in conjunction with Tecnologico de Monterrey and Hong Kong University, is organizing a workshop on United Nations Millennium Development Goals (UN MDG) Education on Feb 1- 2, 2010 in Hong Kong.
This introductory course seeks to assist health sciences students to increase their awareness, understanding, and personal adoption of the UN MDGs for their local and global practice and education. The course aspires to facilitate international, inter-professional collaboration through having a core curriculum, multiple case studies, expert excerpts and videos, self reflections, course evaluation, and digital multimedia platform development.
The organizers recognize that the UN MDG endeavor is expanding to beyond the traditional “health faculties” and welcome students from any school and faculty sharing a passion in UN MDG and global human development to join the workshop in Hong Kong.
An introductory document is appended for your reference which you can disseminate to your respective faculties, departments and students. A brief overview of UN MDGs made by medical students from Tecnologico de Monterrey can also be found online through this link <UN MDGs for health>.
Registration information will be forthcoming at the U21 Health Sciences web site at www.u21health.org. Workshop registration is free but participants will cover their own travel and accommodation costs to attend this workshop.
