The International Summer School of Fudan University for Graduate StudentsISSF2024

复旦大学研究生旗舰型国际暑期学校

FOREWORD

Fudan University has been organizing the graduate summer school since 2009, dedicated to promoting the participation of graduate students in international academic exchange and dialogue. In 2023, the university comprehensively upgraded the graduate summer school and officially launched the International Summer School of Fudan University for Graduate Students(ISSF), aiming to build the brand of academic activities for graduate students at Fudan University and nationwide through more than 10 years of continuous development, helping students broaden their academic horizons, master fundamental knowledge in their fields, and under- stand cutting-edge topics.

The ISSF invites internationally renowned experts and scholars from around the world, adopting an all-English teaching format and focusing on carefully selected annual academic themes. Teaching activities are conducted intensively on the Fudan campus during the summer vacation. The programs are open to international students, primarily targeting graduate students, while also accepting some senior undergraduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and young scholars.

In 2024, the ISSF offers 9 programs covering humanities, social sciences, and STEM disciplines. Among them, the Mathematics, Philosophy, and Life Sciences Summer Schools will collaborate with institutions such as Tongji University and West Lake University to provide students with a broader academic exchange platform. We are willing to explore the academic frontier together with colleagues worldwide at Fudan University and share the academic feast!

Closing RoundtableGlobal Indebtness and the Future of International Order

ZhiguangYin

For this year, the theme of our summer school is debt. We hope to tackle the theme from a broader perspective, treating it not only as a conventional financial concept, but also taking indebtedness as moral and developmental problems of the modern world order. We aim to reflect on the problems of neo-liberal globalization, particularly its detrimental impact on national and human sustainable developments. We also engage the diverse historical and contemporary practices of development in the Global South with the theoretical ambition of envisioning alternative approaches towards a sustainable human development and a true multilateral world order.
